This Week at CareerConnection
Notes from Tuesday's General Session:
Our guest speaker, Mark Arnold, gave a presentation regarding his "Think Huge" concept at the CareerConnection General Session on Tuesday, May 24, 2011.
He said that unless you think in a strategic and goal-oriented way, you are not as likely to achieve anything of significance in your life whether work-related or at home. In particular, he set out a six-part plan to assist you in setting and achieving goals, which is as follows:
- Think VISION
- Think PEOPLE
- Think PASSION
- Think TIME
- Think PERSERVERANCE
- Think LEARNING
Everyone needs to know where they are going in their life and how to get there. You will be remembered by the people you influence. Having and giving energy to others is a choice. What is your "IQ" (influence quotient)?
Don't just show up at your job each day and don't be complacent... find your "blue flame", the place where your talents and passions intersect. Do what you love and love what you do.
Time flies... always allow time for the unexpected things that may come your way. Life gives us many tasks to juggle but every day is a good day. Everyone has obstacles in life that they must overcome but don't let these obstacles overcome you.
Life is a learning process. Discomfort is a function of growth and we will all experience it at some point.
Reading and growing are linked together so always go for the "learner's edge" because the more you learn, the more you earn. Never be satisfied with your level of knowledge... become an expert because people hire the experts. Even small differences in knowledge lead to greater competitive advantages
