August 2nd General Session:
Here are highlights from Beverly Biehl’s presentation from this past Tuesday: "Feng Shui"
She read the book Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life; it changed her life. She began with moving a picture and hanging a mirror near her front door, which led to her husband getting a new, better job. As a result of this, she decided to get professional training in Feng Shui. It is not a religion but a philosophy that can be related to everyday life. Her mother said she needed to pray with her feet; “be ready to move.” Related to water and wind (energy). Both move; need to find happy medium (not still and stagnant, not rushing and damaging.) Energy moves and flows. Water is tangible way of seeing energy move.
Feng Shui BaGua - Way to divide space (house, office or desk) into 9 equal sections (like tic-tac-toe board.) Physical outside environment is manifestation of what is going on inside person.
Can overlay this chart on individual room. Each section corresponds with an aspect of life. Desired objects don’t have to show. Symbol far more powerful. Can take a piece of paper with words or pictures and tape under table or put in a drawer. If energy, then it can get activated.
Career & Life Path: When walk into a home, center front section. When hang mirror here in house, symbolically seeing way clearly. Ideal shape is round one, hang so not cutting off top of head.
Question from audience: What about octagon? That is a great shape for anywhere. Best multi purpose shape. Can find small octagonal mirror at Michael’s for $1.25. If have stuff that reminds you of what you never want to do again, (saw yourself as a banker and hated being a banker), you wouldn’t want to have a picture of yourself as a banker in the room.
Skills & Knowledge: Front left of door. Where can study; religious symbols here. Clutter is not good and not a good thing anywhere because it muddles brain.
Family & Ancestors: Left center section. Writing things of affirmation. Focus on blessings. Having tree, vertical elements or waterfall.
Wealth & Prosperity: Back left section. Wealth not always about money. Wealth can be symbols, like beautiful geodes. Waterfalls, wind chimes, anything that keeps flowing. No dead plants or broken things, reminders of bad times.
Fame & Reputation: Back center section. Have to have network. Your reputation being carried on. Fire energy, oranges, grouping of 3, symbols of sun. Doesn’t have to be large; can find something wonderful. Water puts out fire; don’t put pool there.
Relationships & Love: Back right section. For people working, look at desk. Pairs of items with something simple, such as two matching pens. Take the pens and wrap them together symbolizing you and your new job and you will be writing something together. Not a frozen mountain scene in this section. This is a nurturing section. Things of 3 can be challenging. Someone getting in the way of that partnership.
Creativity & Children: Right center section. Any time trying to find a creative position. Say, “ I am having fun today.” Even as simple as saying something like that. Put fun things, childhood toy or hobby. Metal energy like silver or crystal.
Helpful People & Travel: Not living in vacuum. Helping more people. Willing to accept help. Using red ink: Who do you want to show up in your life? Write out and stick in envelope. Have a party and at party, write out what you want to show up for you in next year. Amazing how many people said what they thought they wanted was not what they actually wanted. Don’t want broken stuff here in this area.
Health: Center section of house. Health is #1. With energy, we can move forward. First thing to do is exercise. Even dancing in middle of the afternoon. Yellow pictures of health, healthy people.
Empty container is a symbol of scarcity. Can fill with extra rocks or coins. Can write out things I am grateful for…interview, spouse who loves me, cat who doesn’t throw up on rug, etc. Fold these up and put in empty containers. You know you have some good stuff in your containers.
Home Office: Boxes are like anchors keeping you from moving forward. Aspirations are things above eye level. If way high, then unreachable.
Cubicle: Use salt candle to combat EMF’s from computer and monitor. Eliminate clutter by filing. Partnership section—add bamboo plant (survives in low light) and light. Phone on left in Wealth section with amethyst.
Wealth Tips:
- Write down description of ideal employer and put in silver (can be foil) box on right side closest to front of office (Helpful People section.)
- Put a water fountain in middle front of office (Career section) to bring in more business or job opportunities. Can buy small water fountain at Wal-Mart.
- Put a healthy bamboo plant in your far left corner (Wealth section) of office or desk to “grow” more wealth. Can be picture of bamboo instead.
- Always empty your trash can at the end of the day to keep yesterday’s junk from weighing down tomorrow’s success. Every morning you have ability to start fresh.
- A star-shaped wall art piece (anything with points) hung in back center spot in office (Reputation section) will spread your reputation. Make sure it’s a good one!
- Hang a crystal over areas that are constantly getting cluttered. The rainbow energy will keep those piles moving. If don’t have crystal, turn light on. If have piles, don’t always work on same schedules. As long as piles are moving, that is not bad.
- Fix any water leaks, no matter how small. Water is associated directly with good fortune and money.
- Express gratitude for all that you currently have, and make room for the abundance that is coming to you by removing clutter. Better to have nothing than things that make you feel bad.
- Keep toilet seats down and keep drains closed to keep money from “flowing” away from your home.
- To protect your health, eliminate TV in the bedroom and keep space under the bed clean. TV is constant source of pollution. Makes it hard to get a good night’s rest. Supposed to be bonding with partner; TV is inviting extra people in bedroom. Even if you don’t have partner, cover TV up.

- CareerConnection office will be closed Friday, August 5. Clay is out and Don is out for vacation August 5-15.
- Hiring gets better in the fall. Don’t let up now while it is summer. Get a bunch of stuff done now and use this time to train and grow and it can make a difference later.
- Frank Wanderski - CMG Leader for Marketing and Sales: CMG had guest speaker today on positive image. You can tell when someone is depressed. When they’re excited, you can tell that too. Does anyone know Eric Weihenmayer? He is the blind guy who climbed Mt. Everest. Don’t tell me you can’t do something. Marketing is to build self image up. Be who you are. It is all about perception, not about reality. If a blind man can climb Mt. Everest, you can get a job.
- David McNair: 2 upcoming Jobbing America workshops: August 17 is Renewal Day for boot camp alumni and September 20 & 21(boot camp.) Go to www.jobbingamerica.com for info and to sign up.
