Not so "Frost-y" Unemployment Benefit Bill...

March 23, 2004

Dear Mr. Cyran:

Thank you for contacting me regarding unemployment compensation benefits.  I appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns, and am happy to respond.

As you know, the House passed H.R. 3030, the Community Services Block Grant Program on February 4, 2004.  An amendment to the bill, offered by Rep. George Miller, provided a 6 month extension of Temporary Extended Unemployment Compensation (TEUC) benefits.  I voted in favor of this amendment, and am pleased it passed.

The current economy has been hard on workers, and I believe we must extend unemployment benefits.  I am also pleased to tell you that I am a cosponsor of H.R. 1652, a bill to continue the extended benefits program for an additional six months.  The bill will also increase the amount of benefits to 26 weeks, include coverage for roughly one million workers who have already exhausted their extended benefits, and expand unemployment insurance coverage for low-wage and part-time workers.   Should Congress consider future legislation regarding this issue, rest assured I will stand up for hardworking Americans and support extending unemployment benefits.

Again, thank you for your correspondence.  Please feel free to contact me again the future if you have any further questions or comments.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

MARTIN FROST
Member of Congress

CareerConnection Members,

Let your voice be heard!    You all feel the "pinch"  or the pressure that someday your unemployment

benefits will run out!   Is that correct?

There is much discussion around the House passing legislature on the House Bill  (HR3030)...

We understand that our Republicans  voted "NO" on this bill which would extend benefits.

WHAT CAN WE DO NOW?

Write your Congressman or your Senator:

( http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2004/roll018.xml )  this link is the voting record of Who's Who.

Find Your Senator's office:

Find your Rep... go to the House link:

Let them know that they need our attention regarding Jobs, The economic outlook, and

extended benefits!   HR 3030,

Please take a look.

Sincerely,

Lisa L. Miller

Executive Director
